Over the weekend I went to see Arabia no Michi, or ‘Roads to Arabia’, an exhibition held in Tokyo. It was really interesting, following the history and development of the area we now know as the United Arab Emirates from prehistory to the modern day.
I really enjoyed the exhibition, especially seeing the prehistoric figures. Art from ancient times seems almost to depict alien figures, with proportions and shapes which are unfamiliar in the art of today.
I used watercolour, and painted the figures in a choppy manner. I enjoy the free quality of the image, and I’m happy with how it turned out.
